A range of stuffed animals have become South Africa's latest crime fighters.
The Legacy Group of Hotels started the Legacy Pride Initiative in 2008 after the group's CEO Bart Dorrestein lost a business partner and a family member to violent crime.
The hotel group brought out a range of seven stuffed animals which symbolise famous South Africans who have been killed by criminals, including David Rattray, Leigh Matthews, Brett Goldin and Steven Siebert. Dorrestein said the money raised from teddy bear sales was used to develop a board game which aims to educate children about the serious effect of crime on society.
"The idea is that kids of all ages look at the map and talk about the scenes they see on the map and from there it points one in the direction that is better to do things the right way than to do it the wrong way," said Dorrestein.
